Meet Mila, my brunette 1/6 scale model and the first step into a larger world of miniature doll photography. Compared with my tiny 1/12 models, her larger scale gives me much more room to experiment with detailed outfits, styling, expressive posing, and closer camera angles.

Mila is built around the VERYCOOL Female Body No. 6 (VCF-6) and uses a JKToys K-006 head with movable eyes. Being able to change the direction of her eyes might sound like a small detail, but in photography it can completely change a pose. Instead of always adjusting the head towards the camera, I can let Mila look into the scene, towards an object or directly into the lens, giving her photographs much more personality.

One of my favorite features of the VERYCOOL No. 6 body is its seamless legs and feet. Instead of ending with separate hard-plastic feet, the seamless skin continues all the way down. This creates a much more natural appearance, especially in barefoot poses and full-body photographs where the legs and feet are clearly visible.

Her larger 1/6 scale also opens up a completely new world of miniature fashion, furniture, accessories, and photo sets. She has much more detail to work with, while still small enough to build complete environments around her.

Mila is still a relatively new character in Mini Sensual Dolls, so her style and personality will keep developing with every new outfit and photo shoot. I am looking forward to discovering what kind of model she becomes in front of the camera.

Meet Sofie, the little blonde who started it all. She is my 1/12 scale TBLeague / Phicen seamless doll and the model that helped turn a simple idea for photographing miniature furniture into what eventually became Mini Sensual Dolls.

Sofie uses the TBLeague PLMB2022-T04 seamless body, standing only around 14.8 cm tall. Despite her tiny size, she is remarkably expressive in front of the camera. Her flexible internal skeleton and seamless body allow me to experiment with natural sitting, standing and reclining poses without the obvious joints found on traditional articulated dolls.

Her small scale also makes photographing her a lot of fun. At 1/12 scale, an entire room fits on a tabletop. A miniature chair, desk, sofa, or even a detailed model car can become part of her world, while small changes in lighting and camera angle can make the finished scene appear much larger than it really is.

Sofie is also where I do much of my experimenting with miniature fashion, doll posing, styling, and lighting. Sometimes she appears in casual clothing, sometimes dressed for a more fashionable shoot, and sometimes the photography becomes a little more sensual. Every new outfit or environment gives me another opportunity to discover what works with such a small photographic model.

Most importantly, Sofie has become much more than the doll I originally bought to sit on miniature furniture. She became my first real miniature photography model, the first character of Mini Sensual Dolls, and the reason I started wondering how much personality I could capture in a doll only 14.8 cm tall.

Small enough to fit in my hand, but with a whole miniature world growing around her.
